Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment (SHLAA)

The Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment (SHLAA) identifies sites with potential for housing over the next 15 years. This is a requirement of national Planning Policy Statement 3, Housing. The findings of the SHLAA will help inform the review of the Local Development Framework (LDF). The inclusion of a site in the SHLAA does not in any way imply that the Council would subsequently support the allocation of a site in the LDF or would grant planning permission.

To make a representation you can fill out the questionnaire below by clicking on ‘start survey’. Copies of the draft SHLAA can be found in the supporting documents section of this questionnaire.

Alternatively, the documents and accompanying representation form can be downloaded from the Council’s website at: www.middlesbrough.gov.ukby accessing the Planning Services web page. Completed representation forms should be sent to the address at the bottom of this page, or alternatively, sent via email to planningpolicy@middlesbrough.gov.uk  All comments regarding the draft SHLAA are required to be with the Council by 12 September 2011.

Copies of the draft SHLAA and accompanying representation forms will also be available for inspection from 1 August 2011 at the Civic Centre and at the following libraries:

Central, Acklam, Berwick Hills, Easterside, Grove Hill, Hemlington, Marton, Newport, North Ormesby, Rainbow, Stainton and Thorntree. The SHLAA will also be available at the Council’s mobile library service.

An exhibition on the draft SHLAA will be available for viewing during the consultation period and will be staffed at selected times. Full details are provided in the SHLAA exhibition timetable which is located in the supporting documents of this questionnaire.
