Middlesbrough Council's Fairer Charging Policy

Consultation Regarding Proposed Changes To Middlesbrough Council's Fairer Charging Policy

When funding Social Care, the Government assumes that Councils are bringing in income by charging for services. Charging policies are reviewed periodically by all Councils and Middlesbrough's was last reviewed in 2007.

The charging policy covers how much, if anything, and in what circumstances people who use adult social care services contribute towards their services.

We know how important these services are to you and we want to make sure they continue to meet your needs.  If we make these changes you will only pay the amount you are assessed as being able to afford. For the vast majority of people who have been assessed as not having to make a contribution. e.g. for home care, this will continue to be the case.

The information sheet (within the supporting documents tab below) shows what we are proposing to change in more detdownail and how the changes could affect you.

We would like you to give us your views on the proposed changes to the Council's Fairer Charging Policy.

The results of this survey will be put forward to Councillors on the Council Executive for consideration when they make their decisions on the proposals in the Autumn.

If you have any queries, please contact us on 729029.

Alternatively, you can come into Middlesbrough Council Civic Centre on Monday 15th August and Wednesday 17th August between 9.30am and 1.30pm where someone will be available to help you fill in your survey form and answer and questions.

The event is not currently available for consultation.
